For the past 27 years my family has owned and operated a party and event rental company "Windswept Entertainment and Events".  12 years ago we added restroom trailers to our inventory to go along with our other rentals such as tents, tables, chairs, and linens.  We were very surprised by how quickly our restroom trailer rental division grew and how many calls we would get from people interested in renting a restroom trailer for special events.  Very rarely did we receive a call for a shower trailer rental, and quite honestly I never saw a market for them in our rental fleet.

When we started Lang Specialty Trailers we were certain that we would have a good market for restroom trailers and thought we may sell a shower trailer here and there.  To our surprise what we found over the last few years is there is quite a large market for shower trailers rentals that is growing fast.  So why did our rental company get so few calls for shower trailer rentals if there is such a strong demand for them?  The problem was our entire marketing strategy was based around the special events industry.

So who is calling for shower trailers?  The calls we receive are from a variety of industries.  We have shower trailers on industrial sites such coal mines, constructions sites, and the oil and gas fields.  I just had a call for a shower trailer to go to California for a nonprofit company who will be driving the shower trailer from neighborhood to neighborhood for the homeless.  We also receive a lot of calls from disaster relief purposes such as forest fires and hurricanes.

I guess the point of this entire post other than the fact that there actually is a pretty good market for shower trailer rentals is don’t assume that that there is not a market for something just because you are not receiving requests for it.  Sometimes it just takes a change of perspective to change everything.
