Winter is Here

Follow the steps below to winterize your restroom trailer from Lang Specialty Trailers.

If you are using your trailer in below freezing temperatures it is important that the heat and tank heaters are kept running to keep your water lines or waste tank from freezing.

If you are storing your restroom trailer in below freezing temperatures you will need to winterize the unit using RV antifreeze. Below are steps to winterize your restroom trailer.

1.      Drain all fresh water tanks and lines into the waste tank. Start by draining the fresh water tank and then with the pump running flush all toilets and run all sinks until no more water comes out.

2.      Fill the fresh water holding tank up with enough RV antifreeze to run the pump.

3.      Once RV antifreeze is able to reach the pump go to every sink and toilet in your restroom trailer and run them until you see RV antifreeze coming out of each toilet and sink. At this point shut the pump off.

4.      Fill the city water connection up with antifreeze by hooking up a hand antifreeze pump up to the city water connection and placing the other end of the pump hose into a container of RV antifreeze. You will need a second person to help you at this point. One person will step on one of the toilet flush pedals while the other person pumps RV antifreeze in. Since you have already winterized all of the lines you only need to pump enough RV antifreeze in to fill the city water connection line.

5.      Remove waterless urinal traps.

6.      Evacuate the waste tank of any waste or water left in the waste tank.

7.      Raise the front of the trailer higher than the back. This will keep any water that is left over in the Waste Holding Tank or enters the waste holding tank through the vent stack in the rear of the tank and away from the waste dump valve where it could freeze and rupture if temperatures were to drop below freezing causing costly repairs.
