Pre-Trip Inspections Help Ensure Safe Travels.

 0

Is your trailer ready to hit the road?  A pre-trip inspection can help ensure a safe commute, before hitting the road there are a couple of things you may want to check.

Starting with the tires, check and retighten any lug nuts, bolts and or hubs that may need it. Make sure that the tire pressure is at the recommended pressure. Check your tires for signs of uneven wear on the tread or signs of trauma such as a nail, that could potentially cause you an issue during travel. As always, make sure that you have a spare tire ready to go if needed.

Test those brakes and make sure that your brake lights, tail lights and turning lights are all functioning properly.

The coupler should be tight and locked.
The hitch and hitch ball should be tight as well.

Make sure your trailer jack and stabilizing jacks are locked into place.

Sometimes things just happen, it is always a good idea to have a road side emergency kit that includes flares and reflectors and other items that help keep you safe in the event of an emergency.

Keeping a solid routine with before trip, monthly and annual maintenance, check ups and inspections will help keep your trailer in safe and good condition for many years.
